Standing Crescent Moon

The standing crescent moon is one of the most amazing breathing exercises for COPD. This exercise evidently stretches your sides and mobilizes your ribs. In the process, it relaxes your muscles. A stretched ribcage can assist better with the movements of breathing, making it a lot easier to breathe.

Demonstration of the exercise

  • Stand nearly an arm’s length from a wall by placing your side body to the wall. Your right shoulder should be closest to the wall.
  • Then, you should lean against the wall by your right arm and incline your upper body toward the wall. Put your hip to the left usually away from the wall.
  • Put your left leg after your right leg.
  • If you want to increase the intensity of the exercises, you should bring your left arm up over your head in the same direction as the wall.
  • Be in this position and breathe in and out acutely through your nose.
  • You will feel a certain stretch in your side. When this eases off, your muscles will also relax.
  • Repeat the exercise by 4 to 8 breaths on either side.
